Compensation: The target salary range for this position is $66,096.68-$85,000 annually, consistent with our internal compensation framework.  This position is classified as Grade 13, with a full pay range of $66,096.68 to $99,200.97USD  You are eligible for an incentive bonus up to 5% of your annual salary, prorated based on your start date.  Final pay will be determined by your experience, skills, internal equity, and available budget.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Health & Safety

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures (both in-house and regulatory) to decrease the potential for employee injuries on the job. Acts as a point of contact for after-hours employees and plant security.
  • Request for onsite drug screening for safety incidences with property damage, for reasonable suspicion (behavioral incidence)-after hrs. Consult with HR and Management regarding the next steps.

Food Safety

  • Assure team members are following Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure we produce safe quality food. Maintain HACCP, FESMA and Best Practice qualifications and ensure audit compliance.
  • Work with Senior management to ensure all corrective actions from all audits are completed and reviewed.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Department to ensure the company actively maintains the facility and prioritizes repairs to the facility and equipment based on food safety risk to product or process.
  • Comply with food safety regulations, and current Good Manufacturing Practices to result in the delivery of safe food products.
  • Ensure that all employees, including new employees, are adequately trained, instructed and supervised in food safety principles and practices commensurate with food allergens and food defense on an annual basis.
  • Ensure that all finished products can be traced to the lot numbers or code dates of any ingredients, raw materials and rework used.
  • Ensure that written procedures are established to determine the safety and security of returned goods, how they are to be segregated and evaluated for food safety and food safety concerns when received.

Leadership

  • Determine when training is needed and what type of training is appropriate.
  • Encourage and assists associates focus on solutions and not problems and coordinates with other Supervisors in identifying solutions to issues and modifying standard work within the production department.
  • Keep employees informed about department goals and results
  • Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Audit and validate employee time and attendance. Record and track employee attendance, issue warnings and disciplines when needed
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and facilitating training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Manage, coordinate and supervise the daily activities of warehouse associates.
  • Maintain standards of performance and update standard work for all positions annually or as improvements or changes are made.
  • Resolve employee relations issues and mediation by investigating, interviewing witnesses and analyzing information to help in determining the issue and follow progressive disciplinary step or give recommended actions to HR for further disciplinary measures.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Work remotely with purchasing, planning, food safety & quality, R&D and maintenance team members or management to resolve production related issues.

OPERATIONS/SUPPLY CHAIN LOGISTICS

  • Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques- work with maintenance to prioritize repairs.
  • Inform Director of Operations of any production variations or staffing issues daily as well as departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress
  • Manage inventory at NorthStar.
  • Assure that Temp Room, Warehouse and Pack Off areas meet goals by reducing rejects; waste; downtime and GMP infractions and schedules the resources to meet daily production expectations.
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Communicate with various departments to complete production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Manage production schedule by consulting remotely with planning and scheduling for contingency plans in case of production shortages or unexpected issues. Creates and schedules work order as directed by planning.
  • Work in conjunction with RTE Supervisors to ensure raw materials are issued to the work orders according to work order completion, validate or investigate variances and report unsolved variances to data center for further review. Issue film, paper rolls and pouches to work orders as the last step to work order completion.
  • Coordinate efficient and effective product changeovers.
  • Provide production information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change.
  • Process orders and oversee cycle of order fulfilment for transportation and warehousing of goods. Responsible for making sure supplies, stock, materials, packages, and/or products are processed through the delivery and/or warehouse system efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure that all vendor products are accurately and efficiently picked, pulled and loaded into trailers for EA Sween Company customers in accordance with standard work procedures.

Research inventory shortages and outages and reports findings to Director of Operations.

  • Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
  • Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and consumers
  • Keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
  • Arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments
  • Resolve any problems arising or complaints
  • Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Comply with necessary laws, regulations and logistics requirements
  • Trailer Storage: Manage control upkeep of trailer storage. Take immediate action if the trailer-reefer unit is reported faulty and gives directions on the next cause of action.
  • Quantity of trailer storage at facility. If high or low materials, reorganize raw materials to free up field trailers-prioritizing the needs.
  • Ensure the necessary corrugate materials are available for packaging so that finished goods can be shipped to D.C/J&B.
  • Ensure Receiving Team receive all raw loads according to standard work process, work with them or other department to resolves issues.
  • CD trailer movement between facility and NorthStar. Manage the yard truck/CDL driver to ensure timely movements of finished shipments and positioning of stored inventory for production.

QUALITY ASSURANCE/CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Assure CCP monitoring and documentation is completed according to the HACCP plan.
  • Assure SSOPs are monitored, and documentation is completed.
  • Perform necessary audits of the process to assure compliance with standard work and 6S.
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and employee morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas by participating in relevant department projects and teams as needed.

What You’ll Need (Qualifications)

Required

  • Associates degree or 2 years of previous leadership experience with the ability to lead and manage staff.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft components.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing and/or clean room environment.

Preferred

  • Previous machine operator experience
  • Previous experience in logistics and distribution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain.
  • 5-8 years of supervisory experience in a logistics environment.
  • Record of successful distribution and logistics management.
  • Proficient in standard logistics software.
  • Experience supervising employees from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Highly motivated and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work well with various levels of people and diverse cultures.
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs continuously, utilizing assistance when needed.
  • Able to continuously push/pull up to 300 lbs of product using a four-wheel dolly and/or drag hook.
  • Able to continuously work in cool conditions 32-45 degrees.
  • Continuously stand or walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel or reach overhead with hands and arms.
  • Continuously sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, as well as able to bend, turn, reach, push and pull.
  • Able to see close, distance, color and peripheral vision, along with depth perception and able to adjust focus.
