The Warehouse Lead is responsible for leading all other employees in the Warehouse, Receiving, Temp Room, and Bread Area by ensuring that all production, quality, policies, standard work, and safety practices are followed and adhered to at all times. The Lead is also responsible for sales samples processing and shipment. This position plays an active role in the company’s lean initiatives and supports company growth. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Competencies:

Leadership, Training, and Development

  • Maintains a good attendance record.
  • Monitors the attendance of all warehouse, temp room, and receiving team employees.
  • Trains receiving and bread area employees in all aspects of the job including standard work, GMPs, safety, quality, etc.
  • Leads the teams in the area by promoting the spirit of E.A. Sween Company and creating a friendly and positive work environment.
  • With guidance from the Warehouse Manager, coaches and documents work performance and/or policy violations.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive customer and employee success by seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Champion change throughout the organization.
  • Participate in lean activities.
  • Suggest additional types of employee training as it relates to process improvement.
  • Actively supports the Warehouse Manager on any continuous improvement efforts.

Safety

  • Own safety within the department and throughout the facility.
  • Promote safe work habits.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that all employees comply with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
  • Successfully complete E.A. Sween quarterly safety training sessions for the purpose of complying with both OSHA regulations and company policy.
  • Safely operate pallet jack and forklift in loading, unloading, or moving supplies and equipment.

Food Safety and Quality

  • Follows and ensures that the department area employees follow all GMPs, government regulations, and safety and production practices and procedures.
  • Execute assigned food safety, quality, and continuous improvement activities to support any regulatory requirements and customer requests.

Standard Work

  • Validates that all team members are following standard work.
  • Coaches team to higher performance levels.
  • Creates any reports or paperwork required for the day.
  • Manages the orientation and on-the-job training for all employees in the work area including standard work, safety, GMPs, and completion of paperwork.

Shipping and Receiving

  • Receive products into system using the scanning process.
  • Compares the information on packing slip and purchase order to verify accuracy of the shipment.
  • Inspects shipments for damages and defects; record discrepancies or damages, and reports to supervisor or purchasing.
  • Ensures all products are received correctly and that the correct information is entered while receiving products via the scanner or computer.
  • Ensured bar codes and allergen tags are placed on raw materials when receiving.
  • Verify the PO Receiver Report daily before and after each shift to validate what product/quantity is expected.
  • View open OP/ON/OZ list daily to verify all receipts are closed by the end of the production date. Send updates to Purchasing/Planning groups for materials that did not deliver.
  • Prepares BOLs, checks chipped items, creates SJ/OJ, ascertain quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • Assist in the movement of products from freezer or trailer to other locations as needed, using the scanning process.
  • Work with Temp Room Product Mover on raw materials prioritizing and with Pack Off Product Mover on finished goods prioritizing for business needs.
  • Scan BOLs into the correct Supplier folder in the EAS Shared network.
  • Receiving product from Supplier, filling out the correct paperwork for trailer inspection, documenting the seal number and signing paperwork as required.

Value Added Center (VAC – where applicable)

  • Receive products into the system using the scanning process. Compares the information on the packing slip and purchase order to verify the accuracy of the shipment.

  • Ensures all products are received correctly and that correct information is entered while receiving products via the scanner or computer.
  • Prepares BOLs, checks shipped items, creates SJ/OJ, ascertains that quantities, destinations, and routing are correct.
  • Assist the movement of products from the freezer or trailer to other locations as needed, using the scanning process.
  • Receives sample inventory, process samples, ships samples, and works closely with sales support and transportation teams.

Temp Room and Bread Window

  • Ensure proper and adequate labor deployment for Temp Room and Bread Window operations.
  • Ensure proper and accurate IT transactions are performed in the Temp Room and Bread Window.
  • Ensure all team members are following allergen and non-allergen protocols, all GMP, and food safety practices.
  • Ensures Temp Room and Bread Window are adequately supporting production through timely deployment of raw material and no down time.
  • Assist in carry-over transactions and maintaining a clean work area.
  • Ensuring effective and timely communication with operations team with issues and challenges in the Temp Room and Bread Area.
  • Clean and organize the freezer and storage locations and verify cycle count inventory.
  • Actively support the bread area, temp room, and receiving areas as required.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Be able to speak and communicate in English.
  • Previous high speed assembly line packaging experience.
  • Know how to operate weight scale and follow QA/QC procedures.
  • Must be able to work well with various levels of employees and diverse cultures.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers.
  • 60% of the workday is spent on the Temp Room floor/40% on Warehouse Floor.
  • Ability to navigate and use ERP system.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous lead or supervisory experience is a plus.

Physical Environment:

  • Must be able to be on feet majority of the day.
  • Must be able to bend, twist, turn, push, pull.
  • Must be able to reach overhead moderately.
  • Must be able to moderately lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to keep up with manufacturing speeds.
  • Must be able to work in cool conditions, 35 - 45 degrees.
